How to maintain a healthy gut

Do you experience a few of the following physical issues?

  • tiredness
  • a kind of a ‘racing’ feeling through your legs – also restlessness in your legs –
  • a rumbling sound in your lower bowel, even in the middle of the night
  • difficulties with sleeping although you’re very tired (constantly turning and not finding a nice position to sleep in)
  • headache or constantly thinking in your head about nothing particular – but it keeps you awake –
  • not feeling vital and fit
  • your lower tummy part (under your belly button) starts to swell
  • gaining weight although you didn’t change your diet
  • farting although you didn’t change your diet
  • constipation

food healthyThere’s a big chance you have an infection like bacteria, fungus, viruses, parasites or Amoeba in your gut. When you don’t do anything about it, it just grows and you’ll get more physical problems. It can affect your life in a negative way; you can’t get the things done you want to do or you don’t have the energy to take actions.

If you go to a GP and tell your physical complaints, they often don’t know exactly what’s wrong in your body. They have to diagnose from what you’re telling and they can prescribe medications, like antibiotics. Antibiotics can help if you’re having a bacteria infection, but it also causes disadvantages of the natural functioning of your immune system. People often just look at the short term result. But you definitely don’t want a malfunctioning immune system as a long term result.

So, how do you find out what’s going on in your gut that’s causing your physical complaints?

My husband and I are both very sensitive and we discovered over the last years that we can feel in our gut when something is wrong there. We found out that a kinesiologist can do muscle tests to diagnose which infection is going on in your body. And for every infection type are naturopath medications to get rid of the infection, without problems for your immune system. After using these naturopath medications we feel healthy and fit again, can sleep well again, and our digestive systems are working normal again.

Also healthy food and good water helps your body. Let me just mention something about water: tap water is not the healthiest version of water for your body and it can even cause an Amoeba infection. The best way to (try to) avoid this, is to boil the water and let it cool down and use a special water filter that gets the fluoride and chlorine out of the water. Use this water to drink, to wash your veggies and fruit in, and to brush your teeth and clean your toothbrush.

If your gut is healthy and functioning well, you feel good, energetic and do you can take actions on your path to happiness. If you sleep well, your body recharges to be fit the following day. It all starts in your gut, so take excellent care of it!

Do you put yourself in the first place?

Are you tired because you are busy running around for everyone else? Like your children, partner, family, friends, colleagues, neighbours? And do you wish you had some time for yourself? To do what you like or just doing nothing and relax?

Do you recognise this situation and did you ever wonder why it is that you seem to never have (enough) time for yourself? Why someone else needs you more than you need time for yourself? If you find out why, you can change it and create time for yourself. And find out what will give you energy. So to ‘receive’ instead of always ‘giving’ to others.

Are you ready to find out the truth about what’s going on in your life?

First of all, it’s not that others need you more than yourself. It’s that you, on an unconscious level, give them your time and attention and put them in the first place. What this means, is that you don’t feel worthy to put yourself in the first place. It’s everybody’s needs first and as the last person, you can have your turn. But often you won’t get that turn because the day is already gone. You ‘give’ but you don’t take, so it’s out of balance. You get tired and can even get burned-out.

Look back at your last week and count how many times and how long you have had time for yourself. Where you could do whatever you wanted without being disturbed. Was it daily at least 10 minutes? If not… you need more time for yourself. You need to put yourself in the first place of your life.

How do you do that? Putting yourself in the first place?

Relaxed woman enjoying nature outsideBy loving and accepting yourself completely and feeling what you and your body need. Then you know you need to give time to yourself to recharge your batteries. Because if you do that, you can spread more love to others too. You start to radiate that you take care of yourself, you’re a good role model, and the people around you start to see they have to take good care of themselves too. You feel more energised, and you are happier.

If you can’t see how to give yourself at least 10 minutes a day, here are some examples:

Set your alarm to get up 10 minutes earlier than usual, and

  • meditate in a quiet room, or
  • look outside how beautiful nature is, or
  • listen to an online free meditation to start your day, or
  • do some stretching exercises, or
  • just write down how you feel and what your intentions are for the new day ahead.

You can also take your Me-time later in the day, or at the end of the day by

  • taking a relaxed bath (with sea salt and baking soda or essential oils) and candles in the room, or
  • meditate, or
  • whatever feels good for you.

Tell your family members that you don’t want to be disturbed during this Me-time and switch of your phone.

And if you can’t create the Me-time inside your house, book yourself a beauty treatment, a massage, visit a sauna, or visit the beach or make a walk in a beautiful area with a lot of trees.

Create this new habit and you’ll feel much better soon!

Do you have food cravings you want to get rid of?

White chocolate cravingAre you crazy about chocolate? Or do you need a lot of caffeine during your day? Do you prefer sugar or salt, or both? Or would you die to have some ice?

When you don’t have control over your urge to eat/drink certain food/beverages, the cravings have become addictive. And you know that they aren’t supporting your health. It can even happen that you walk to a cupboard to grab the food you desire so much, and you become conscious about not having the control to stop it. You can say to yourself ‘no, I don’t want to eat this’, but there’s also a voice in your mind telling you ‘it’s okay to eat it this time’. It’s a dialogue in your mind and of course you want to hear the permission to eat it. Your ego tells you you’ll feel better after you’ve eaten what you’re craving for. But after eating you notice it doesn’t make you feel better, or only for a very short time.

Sweets cravingIf you want to get rid of these cravings, it’s very interesting to find out first why you have the cravings. It’s a process of becoming conscious what you feel every time you want to eat something you don’t control. You can start a diary with the facts and your feelings. Why not start today and write down every time you feel the uncontrollable urge to eat something? Write down the date, time, what you crave for, what emotion you feel and where in your body, and what you ate and how much. Especially the part what emotion you feel and where in your body, will give you insights. Do you eat because you feel bored, because you’re stressed, or because you feel sad or alone, or do you feel an emptiness inside that you want to fill up with food? When you are in contact with your eating emotion, try to feel what the cause of this emotion is. Maybe you still suffer from losing someone you loved or another traumatic experience in your life. Release your emotions so you don’t need your craving(s) anymore. It doesn’t mean you can’t eat that specific food anymore, but you have the choice now to choose to eat it or to leave it. A chemical-free lifestyle will boost your energy, vitality, and self-esteem.

You can also ask Archangel Raphael to reduce or eliminate addictive cravings and help you adjust so that recovery is pleasant and harmonious. You can use this prayer: “Dear Archangel Raphael, thank you for adjusting my cravings in healthful directions so that I only desire life-affirming foods and beverages”. To be caffeine free you can use this prayer: “Dear Archangel Raphael, I ask that you cut my cords of attachments to caffeine so that I may honour my body’s natural energy rhythms without chemicals”. Of course you can change the word ‘caffeine’ into the craving you want to get rid of in your prayer.
